Just a quick note to tell all of you I am getting your emails, texts and messages of support. I am so humbled and yet encouraged by all of your words!
I've been saving this verse for just the right time and I think now is the right time: James 1: 2-4 Consider it pure joy my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
The surgery is scheduled for tomorrow morning in Midland. We will arrive around 6 or so and my surgery will likely begin around 9-10am. My family will be in town for at least 3 weeks.
I will be using this blog to keep all of you in the loop. It will be a centralized place for you to come and get update. As much as we'd love to call all of you personally, please understand that that our focus will be on the recovery and the kids.
Having said that, we could really use your help. Many of you have asked already and there a few key areas:
1. Meals ~
A website (Food Tidings) has been set up where you can sign up to bring us a meal. We would ask that you plan on stopping and simply dropping off the food for the first month. We are not going to entertain a lot of visitors in the early phase of recovery. We love you all so much, but we are taking the advice of our oncologist.
If you don't have time to make a meal, we would welcome gift cards to get a meal or take-out. Some of the nearby restaurants include: Rosa's, Jumborito, and Texas Roadhouse.
2. Playdates~
If you would like to take any of our kids out for some fun; the park a movie or to play with your kids we know the would appreciate that. They are taking this well, but their lives too will be affected by this for the short run.
3. Errands~ like grocery shopping
If any of you would like to pick up a some groceries for us we would love to email our list to you and pay you either before you go or when you drop off the food. This will free Brian and my family to take care of the kids and help me in my recovery.
4. Magazines, Books and Movies~
Obviously, I'll be spending a lot of time in bed and at home. I would love for you to consider saving some of your magazines for me.
5. Most Importantly ~PRAYER and Bible Verses
Our Father in Heaven tells us if we are together in our prayer he will listen. Please pray specifically for healing, for my husband, my children and for the doctor's treating me. If there are particular verses please comment below this post or any of the posts. I will be reading the blog and Facebook to draw strength from your words of encouragement.
Psalm 18:2
ReplyDeleteThe LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the hornof my salvation, my stronghold.
Leticia, you don't know me but I have the pleasure of working with Scott Raines.
ReplyDeleteI have been praying for you and had you very heavy on my heart. I will continue to pray for you daily through this time.
"But you,O Lord, are a shield around me; You are my glory, the one who holds my head high."
Psalm 3:3
Leticia,
